Los Angeles people, I was having trouble finding protests for this Saturday, and after some digging, found some. Any thoughts? The golf course one seems fun but sketchy, also no time? If others find more info, please add to help people find actions. #LAProtests

We had such a great time at the LACOE neurodiversity summit talking about math for everyone. As always @talknumber2me.bsky.social did an amazing job organizing it. she even made potato chips with my book on it. Definitely the coolest professional gift I have ever gotten. ♾️

#StandUpForScience rally today in Los Angeles. Amazing crowd, many new to protesting. We need to put the pressure on, people. They won't stop stealing from us without pressure from us. #EduSky #ITeachMath #AcademicSky

chart from Children's Mathematics (Carpenter et al 2014) shows how kids direct model (objects/drawing representing all items) then how that shifts to counting strategies, then to "Flexible choice of strategies"- I see three types of OG subtraction here

♾️ More #CMCS24 Maria Zavala on Culturally Responsive Mathematics Teaching was wonderful. This image she shared would be a Notice and Wonder for math, but she adds in people who connect us to bigger issues, we might notice and wonder why they are all women (a teen participant did!) or what they make

I loved this work from Cheryl Tobey #CMCS24 The teachers and paras she works with were looking to increase depth of student reflection, so they created a mini routine where students looked at a photo of themselves learning and were asked 1) what were you doing 2) what did you learn. #ITeachMath
