I have something to add to this conversation. As a substitute in a large public school system, I travelled to different high schools and saw the wide difference between schools that already banned phones and those with no enforcement.

I wouldn't like to work in a school that allows phones.
I think people need to understand that without universal phone bans, as per a meta study done, about half of teachers grade 6 and up can't actually get kids to put their phones away during class and they end up having to decide whether it's worth engaging disciplinary action or to continue teaching.

We entrust our city's future to the nearly 200,000 teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors and more of the UFT. Now more than ever, they need a mayor who recognizes their value and has their backs. I am honored to earn their endorsement.

UFT delegates voted to endorse Mamdani because they believe he is the best candidate in the race to advance our union’s agenda: to protect our premium-free health care, fix Tier 6, pass the “RESPECT check” bill, implement the class size law, revamp mayoral control and more.

I've been reading 100 Years of Solitude in Spanish on and off since 2014, and I just finished it. It's cool to see the annotations defining terms in the margins get scarcer and less frequent as I progressed and learned the language.

Hay hombres pelones más jóvenes que yo. Es decir, me enteré en este momento que ya soy viejo y ya viene mi propio tiempo de perder todo (pelo).

I took 3 months off from drawing, Kiki's-Delivery-Service-Style. Here's a selfie as I am getting back into it.

And here's to other artists who have competing priorities like school and work that don't allow them as much time as they would like!

REMINDER: Those choosing to live in subsidized suburbs for a bigger house and yard are NOT also entitled to free-flow car traffic capacity (aka an “easy car commute”) into the city at the expense of the taxes, health, safety (hint: bike-lanes) & quality of life of city-dwellers.

remind me, when companies create an actual revolutionary technology that is going to change the world, do they usually have to beg users to adopt it, give it away for free for years, and at last resort force it on people with no way to disable it? Is that usually how revolutionary tech works?
