The Chinese government is trying to circumvent the Uyghur Forced Labor Protection Act by shifting programs outside Xinjiang, according to journalists.

They found >100 companies that "appear to receive Uyghur workers or parts or goods produced by them."

Two paper mills in Maine are "among the last in the nation to use both coal and tires as fuel." (Both mills - Sappi in Skowhegan and ND Paper in Rumford - are owned by overseas companies (South Africa and China, respectively). EIP study.
