In light of Trump's election, it felt really positive to be in a communal space that centered music and art. The congreso acknowledged our elders while also highlighting youth programs. NM Acequia Association did a great job cultivating hope & action despite the struggle ahead. Pa'lante!

At the Congreso, the morning began with ceremony. Representatives of each acequia brought water samples from their streams to offer into one collective olla (ceramic jar). The ceremony reminded us that we are water and our streams are the veins that carry our lifeblood to the community #ElAguaEsVida

This wknd, I attended the 25th Annual Congreso de las Acequias in Las Vegas, #NewMexico. It was a gathering of farmers, land stewards & water protectors uniting our voices & collective power to honor our heritage practice & fight for its survival in the face of water privatization & #ClimateChange.

1 step forward, 8 years backwards. F*ck em. Pa'lante!
