A bunch of mostly dads dropping their daughters off for ballet leads to some of the craziest hair styles I’ve ever seen. Like turning a bunch of amateurs loose in a surgical ward. We got too many pins, clips everywhere, elastics flying across the room.

I’ll write a longer thing about it but #clickhouse is the craziest leap forward in observability technology I’ve ever seen. The ability to process queries of billions of logs in 1-2 seconds is unlike anything on the market I have tried. #observability

A book I wish someone would write is a postmortem on the failure of home automation. It is just fascinating to me that everyone I know got some sort of smart home assistant. We all purchased at least one smart thing, be it a lightbulb or blinds or whatever. And even if each component had 99% […]

Listening to #trump to see if he's going to declare war on #greenland. It is deeply embarrassing how bad he is at public speaking. It's also so fucking pathetic how he bitches and moans about the 2020 election to an international crowd waiting to see if he will declare war.

Being an American is […]

Modified the backend code for #timewasterpro to take upvotes and downvotes more seriously in the algorithmic selection of the next website to serve up. I'm also categorizing all 616782 individual pages into different genres so I'm hoping I can tune the algorithm to not […]

I think it’s maybe a little generous to call making shit up on stage a “strategy” but I do think Apple is going to be able to snap up a company like Anthropic for an absolute song when this is all over. https://mastodon.social/@macrumors/115809603842828692

So I’m in some sort of #sendgrid hell spiral. I woke up this morning to dozens of alerts that my API access was excessive and being shut down. Except I don’t use Sendgrid and my account from years ago doesn’t have an active API key (so nothing for me to disable). Also […]

If you are in the market for a fountain pen I cannot recommend the Jinhao 777 enough. It costs €1, looks nice and writes like an absolute dream. I’ve refilled the cartridge in this one 10 times and it’s still going strong. #fountainpen #fountainpens

In salesforces defense the pre-AI tech stack drove two people I knew closely to effectively on-call madness, so often were they interrupted. So it wasn’t like it was great before the AI got there. https://social.lansky.name/@hn50/115781134344922384

I’m in the process of ripping out the email requirement for #timewasterspro on Firefox. I added it because it’s the authentication flow I’ve used for a ton of jobs (email + password + verification email) but I agree that you shouldn’t have to give me an email. I’ll make the email field optional […]

#ev companies need to play up the real benefit of EV cars. That you get to escape friends and family while sitting in a car at a charger for however long you want and play on your phone.

I love package maintainers but it’s important to remember there’s another more annoying side to this. Package maintainers are another person injected between the developer and the user.

Sometimes package maintainers filter out malware. Sometimes you end up with a random snapshot of the software […]

You can tell an iOS release is a loser by how many of these “you can upgrade to the last good iOS version” articles you see. And boy am I seeing a LOT for iOS 26. What a dud. #apple #ios https://mastodon.social/@macrumors/115747683534159392

Probably old news but my mind is always blown by all the stuff #curl can do. I had zero idea that curl has a —form argument that lets you simulate filling out a form, complete with a file upload. Let me automate a super annoying task for a friend with a dead simple bash script.

What’s amazing about GitHub charging for self-hosted runners is how incredibly bad the self-hosted runner setup currently is. Like I’d gladly play them a license fee if they hired more people to fix them but I’m not going to pay per-minute for this crap […]

What I find weird about #mozilla pivoting to #LLM is that it’s skating to where the puck was six months ago. Agentic browser capabilities are something plenty of people are throwing lots of cash at. There’s nothing Firefox can add to that conversation and there are plenty of LLM enhanced […]

No #Warhammer40k this week, couldn’t get a match together. Tried Fallout 76 instead. Got it for €5 on the Steam Sale.
