Had a fun time at London Zoo yesterday. I managed to resist the temptation to smuggle a penguin home in my rucksack 🐧

Third book of 2025: Les Normaux by Janine Janssen

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Boy meets sexy vampire in a supernatural version of Paris. If you are a fan of Heartstopper and need a fix of gay romance in the form of a graphic novel, this will scratch that itch.

Fifth Movie of 2025: Companion

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A darkly comic sci-fi thriller with strong commentary on toxic masculinity and the way some men gaslight and objectify women. I'm a huge Lukas Gage fan, and he gets a cool moment evocative of a 90's sci-fi classic.

Name a show you are positive no one remembers, but you.

Flint the Time Detective

It is criminal that pokemon and digimon have stayed part of the popular consciousness, but this show has been forgotten.

Second book of 2025:

Politics on the Edge by Rory Stewart

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The honest testimony of an idealist who romanticises politics crashing head first into the cold, hard reality of modern politics in the UK during the turbulent 2010's.

Fourth film of 2025: Captain America Brave New World

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A banger of an MCU film. Harrison Ford delivers his best performance in years, and Anthony Mackie brings it as Captain America. It builds on the Falcon and Winter Soldier series while layering in 2008's Incredible Hulk with fun cameos.

I just finished watching the third and final season of Big Boys. Jack Rooke delivers a pitch-perfect, tender, funny, bittersweet final chapter.

Third film of 2025: We Live In Time

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I haven't seen a bittersweet romance/cancer film since The Fault in Our Stars. The film is told out of order, which saves the final third from being a total downer. Florence Pugh is super relatable, and Andrew Garfield is giving young Hugh Grant vibes.
