Happy N7 Day!

It snuck up on me (again), so here's Miranda!

I need to work on my ability to append multiple rigs into a single scene, it's a learning process in Blender.

Rig by Rigid3D. Enviro by PotatoFire777.

Me, thinking I had a cover letter ready to go for a posting closing on Sunday.

Me, checking and realizing I do NOT have a cover letter ready to go for submission in 36-ish hours.

Oops.

I have completed another annual review of daily life. Added some skills to year 40. I'd enjoy being able to continue to grow and learn in yeaar 41's daily review.

put "On The Edge of Nowhere" into Ellipsus and updated the formatting. Slowly shifting things out of Google Docs and into Ellipsus to reduce the scraping of my stuff for AI

Got some progress made in two different plots for "On The Edge of Nowhere"

Just bows doing bow things together

The journey continues as I troubleshoot a backdrop, and better technique. Getting the nockpoint at a better point.

@monsterfucker.bsky.social Happy birthday! I have no art to share, but thank you for being interactive!

Plans this week: measure, cut, and install cross beams on the area where arrows fly.

Also, finishing writing my exchange piece

It's warm and sunny, I'm tired from my 3-y.o. keeping me active, but boyhood dream is accomplished: I have used a bow to hit a target!

Not very easy to see, but saw a snake in the grass as I was mowing today. Slammed on the brakes instead of running it over. I've never seen one outside of a zoo before.

I run a dual 3080 setup for rendering animations with lights/textures/etc., and a 7950X CPU. Render times can be as low as a minute per frame depending on setup.
You send the scene that's ready, and I render it. Any errors or issues I communicate as soon as possible and also attempt to troubleshoot
Recent videos were supported in rendering by @masweird.bsky.social
Cooperation was smooth. Its effects are the 3 video loops.
If you are a creator looking for way to speed up rendering, give a friendly message to Mas. It might cost, but speeding the calculations usually is worth it.

Had an interview.
Felt good.
Now to wait.

Interesting that in the last six-ish weeks of GPU benchmark tests and reviews, no one mentions the budget-friendly A770 and B580. And I'm still left wondering how well a 7900XTX or 9070XT can render in Blender.

It feels perhaps excessive to need a thermal imager and an anemometre when buying and installing modern PC components.

But also at least I can find some uses for them around the house.

Here's hoping the RX9070 launch doesn't result in 7900 series cards skyrocketing in price.

What are your opinions about dressing for an interview? Seems to not be much of a thing anymore.

Pinned Bluesky to my homescreen.
Started writing my SpecReqs 2025 assignment.
Started recollecting Blender rigs that I stupidly lost (100% user error).

Hopefully I will be more active with likes and reposts here!!

"Hot" take in general: if you use AI to massively touch-up your photos to the point I think you're AI-generated, I assume that you use AI and treat you as such.
Navigating around AI "content" takes way more effort than it should.

Pro: Blender is free and widely supported with tutorials.

Cons: baking particle effects and physics can take a while.

Pro: it's less time to bake and rebake compared to rendering even a lowres render in Maya to see the outcome.

Con: you might see some VFX spam here.

Let's acknowledge #NabobCoffee for creating packaging for coffee grinds that is almost entirely recyclable except for the seal which is merely a thin layer.
I appreciate that. Other companies can take notice to reduce their plastics. Cereal boxes. Toilet paper. Bread.

Sometimes it's fun to see what things you've done or consider normal, but are still on bucket lists for other people; and vice versa of course.
