The reason it feels so Gintama is because if we ignore the fact that Ichigo and co were high schoolers, the shinigamis/hollows/arrancars are def not that so taking shonen characters and forcing them to play school pretend sounds like what Takasugi questioned last week in ep 11 of the 3Z anime.
