Biden’s entire brand has been “meh” for a while. He has been the stable safe option, contrasted to the radicalism of Candidate Obama and Trump for 15 years now. I don’t think it should shock anyone that the response to Biden is “meh”. But a hell of a lot of voters feel comfortable with “meh”

I remember reading Rick Riordan’s blog about his dealing with movie companies, and if releasing a hugely popular series that hits the nostalgia of the 18-25 crowd doesn’t get you clout, I’m not sure anything would, short of having enough money to produce the film yourself.

Can’t speak for Mr. Gaiman, of course, but one would hope that he had at least some clout after American Gods (2001) won like 3 of the biggest awards in books.

My thought is that he heard the first comment and was so focused on thinking of a joke that he ignored the second part, only to come out with the joke several seconds late. He hasn’t learned that jokes are like highway exits. If you miss your turn, just move on to the next
