A popular vote managed by the states would be a disaster. There’d be very little to stop Texas, for example, from playing with their numbers, e.g. “Texas is a red state, I’m entitled to all their votes.” At least the EC prevents that.

Winner take all is fine. The capped House is not.
Having some regional input into the election of the Executive is good way to keep the nation together.
The capped House is the main problem and that wasn't the original design.

That might be an okay argument for the Senate and Electoral College, but representation in the House was supposed to be fairly equal per citizen until 1929.

What's the replacement process for GA?

Apparently he has a thing for Muslim men.

I don’t think “on” is the correct preposition.

Unfortunately, too many think Jessep was the hero of the story.

Add pet care to the list. Thrive ruined pet care in Rochester, NY area.

The called it "Project Adventure" in my high school. I said "no" and didn't do it.

Not entirely buying that one. She had 66% favorable rating in 2012. McCarthy told the story on Clinton. She wasn't without flaws or baggage, but it was also a GOP hit job.

So many people don't understand that political reality and it seems so basic.

I'm looking to retire back to MA in a couple years and when the time comes to replace my current car, I will consider the EV options at the time.
November 20, 2025 at 10:49 PM
I accept that 18 yrs is an outlier. Average Americans are keeping their cars 12.6 yrs and rising, which implies that‘s the reasonable expectation we have for when a car should work before needing financially catastrophic replacement.

While I’m confident your answer is correct for the purposes of what will be known in my lifetime, I’m humble enough to accept anything is possible given eternity.

So, I take that to mean you don't have kids because you know the carbon footprint of bringing a child into the world is very high and harms us all, right?
November 20, 2025 at 6:56 PM
I hear you. Do you think an MSc in physics from 1900 would see the universe the same way you do? We know what we know based on best information to date.
November 20, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Actually you don't get it. You just want to insult or gaslight. It's like Trump trying to tell us costs are down when they're not.
November 20, 2025 at 6:51 PM
I have an 18 yr old car. Are you telling me the continued operating cost of that car is higher than buying a new EV?
November 20, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Where did I say global warming is a good thing?

Do you have kids?

If so, did you think about the carbon footprint of that decision? How does a having a child compare to using an ICE car?
November 20, 2025 at 5:54 PM
Plenty.
You know it's possible to hold multiple ideas / truths at the same time.
Global warming is bad.
EVs are step in the right direction to reducing it.
EV economics don't yet work for everyone's use case.
EV lifecycle has some downsides that need improvement.
November 20, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Not at all. I'll repeat what I've said previously. I'd consider an EV when it meets my use case.

Trying to convince me that EVs currently fit my use case when they don't is where we are disconnected.
November 20, 2025 at 5:45 PM
I haven't moved from my original assertion. You make claims of lower costs, but I'm quite confident you haven't presented any numbers that would show an 18 yr old EV costing less than my current 18 yr old car.
November 20, 2025 at 5:37 PM
My problem is you're speaking in absolutes. EVs don't always have better warranties, maintenance, safety, cost of ownership, etc.

It's dishonest advocacy.
November 20, 2025 at 5:34 PM
I'm not trying to convince people not to transition to them if it's right for them.

I just find the EV messaging a bit one-sided. Is lithium mining good for the environment?
