There’s a problem if you want to use this to draw colored cells though. There’s no antialiasing!

Clearly I’m putting in effort to build an audience here—I’m pushing my gamedev mailing after all—but I’m not under any illusion that a high % of people on my dev mailing list will ever buy my games.

My motivations for building a dev audience are less transactional. Basically, I like to participate.
