also i wanna note that her adapting to her role in redo is just a 1:1 parallel of bluffman and how he adapted in reality
these two make me ill

i can only hope that we get another novel or at least a series that show us more sides to her and the other characters and how theyre coping in reality
narratively tho i dont mind too much with how her roleplaying for the sake of her virtuadoll image can be a way to represent her masking

isolation in the emotional and physical sense is something im too familiar with esp as someone who has struggled with social interaction for p much my whole life without actually knowing how to fix it it gets to a point where you just almost become uninterested in actually helping yourself

also the fact that her dad dealt with it differently as a man who just grew up, attended a nice school, got a high paying job got married and had a kid like any good man of society would do but he never sought out a support system nor learned how to become one for his daughter

when you strip that from him and make him a white man you've automatically missed the mark and weakens any further interpretation of his character you could give him
this goes for any character where struggle in a society where whiteness is favored and stripping them of their racial identities

like wuthering heights at its most basic level is a tragedy abt characters who do bad things who also suffer from bad things and as ive once heard someone put it there are no characters you love just characters you hate less and Heathcliff being a non white man is integral to his character

and to address the obvious elephant in the room im not here to be a prude and say you cant adapt a book like wuthering heights and add erotic elements in it but the way its advertised leans further from the gothic romantic story its telling that i hope we see in future trailers (likely not)

too many ppl have this idea that fiction is only meant for entertainment and cant be used to make you think or acknowledge our reality when pretty much everything created thats fictional is somewhat grounded in real like experiences and social rules like Heathcliff wasn't written as poc on accident

like yes works of fiction are up to interpretation and adaptations are no exception to the rule but at the same time there are cases where a writer deliberately makes decisions with specific things they want to reader to gain from reading their work that ignoring them is in fact
a bad thing
