So many stay silent. I would venture to guess the percentages are far higher.

Knowing that their families are unsafe breaks my heart, but it pales in comparison to the ever present fear they endure. I’ve heard tragic stories of students not being able to take academic opportunities that would position them for great futures because of their fears of ICE. It’s so twisted.

Fortunately, the organizers in Chicago have provided their insights with organizers in Charlotte. Community members are stepping up to protect schools, alert their communities, and document what’s going on. In the absence of law, good people are doing their best to serve and protect.
