Well, my experience ended at 1am and it’s only 9 hours later. But it is a reasonable Q that I don’t know the answer to.
Maybe specialty rather than national media? Look for accounts that arise from aviation publications?

“Filing too early” is a known journalistic hazard. If you look back, the first stories after Katrina passed over New Orleans were all, “Storm not too bad! Worst scenarios didn’t occur!”
The levees broke 24h later.
A responsible news org looks for a “2nd day” story to confirm if their 1st holds up.

IIRC the historical “perfect storm” required three contributing factors to become that bad.
So here we have weather, shutdown staff cuts and … NYT caping?
I’ll allow it.

We boarded a 1-hr delayed flight BOS-ATL and the pilot then informed us he’d been handed a further 3-hr delay. He said storm + staffing overloaded ATL enough that they diverted a bunch of planes and then had to bring them all back.
He said this at 1700 ET so must have been unrolling all afternoon.

That’s absolutely correct and I do it when I have to exit at Main Terminal (I usually go out the other end). Unfortch it’s pretty niche knowledge that people unfamiliar with ATL wouldn’t know.
Can confirm airport was a disaster last night-morning. Landed at 12am, people camped out everywhere.

I was in that chaos last night and this report is grossly incorrect. The only possible defense is that it was published at 5am, which means it was likely in editing and prep while the worst was happening in late afternoon-evening

The tarnished silver lining was that ATL was my last stop, so as long as the plane went eventually, I would be OK. Not true for most, who were missing connections all over the place. So I could park in a nearby bar where they had to stand in line.
Still brutal though, end of a 25-hr travel day,
Still brutal though, end of a 25-hr travel day,

So:
1) cancel all insurance
2) send people subsidies to help with buying whatever replaces insurance
(2 will never happen)
(To be fair, given lobbies, 1 probably won’t either)

In the Occitanie (SW France) croissant dough rolled around chocolate is a chocolatine, not a pain au chocolat, and the difference is a whole regional-identity deal (T-shirts, slogans).
