Can I also point out that I was making a point about the deeply unpleasant views expressed by some Christians. My own faith, as it happens. I was not slagging off Jews. In fact, a really important Jew was the hero of the story. Again, not really antisemitic.

I think it's because there appear to be no consequences to illegal or bad behaviors anymore. We feel stymied and we panic. I guess it's the fight or flight syndrome. All we can think of to do is to kill it if it won't go away by legal or humanitarian means.
