Fröliche Fröliche. Agreed, it's not the same as back then. I just logged on to GRanDMA for fun. Are you by chance the D. Alfred D. born in Chesley 1960-64, who is my 5th cousin?

I've known for a period of years they were in the eastern part of my state, PA, but only last week here a couple hundred miles inland did I see some for the 1st time, all within days of each other, clinging to a house screen. Dismayed.

I'm so lucky. A couple years ago I was out front when man called a hello. "I'm xyz, pres of HOA." Blood drained out of my face. But then: "We're working w/township stormwater engineer to plant stormwater basin w/natives. Can you meet w/him and share your knowledge?" We met; he was so enthusiastic.

On my 1/8-acre in planned suburban development with an HOA. Some neighbors just *have* to be different. Central PA.

I learned it years ago when our choral society performed it, then this past Jan. the Sunday before MLK Day/day of our mom's memorial service, it was a hymn sung at Bethel College M C, which I attended as a visitor. Powerful song.

Since I started following you a couple months ago, I always find your plant photos tantalizing in the sense that my same PA plants don't bloom till a couple weeks later than MD. Green spheres here.
