Open flames are a big no with highly flammable beeswax - not that this has stopped me from processing it in a kettle of water on an outdoor propane burner. I’m getting older and wiser or something, hence the FB marketplace crockpot.

Put water in there and the wax will float and congeal on top. Some guys just scrap/cut the gunk off the bottom of the wax disc. I’ve tied the wax in layers of cheesecloth and the put it I the water. The wax melts through and co heals after you pull out the cheesecloth of gunk.

I’m meeting someone at the elementary school down the street tomorrow to buy a $20 crockpot to process beeswax in. FB Marketplace has its uses.

My union has a lot of members in Oregon and endorsed Merkley when he first ran (and since.)The union phone bank I was on made a lot of OR calls that year. I have never had a moment of regret for promoting that endorsement.

There are many excellent venues in the DC metro. The Washington Performing Arts Society is making full use of them. Now the NSO needs to decamp as well.

I lost my beautiful larger-than-life Tubby to an aggressive cancer last November. She was only 7. Your Fergus was beautiful and clearly a very, very good boy. It is impossibly difficult to lose them, but more impossibly difficult to imagine not having them in our lives to begin with.

Do I get credit now if I’ve boycotted the dumb mouse my entire life with the exception of 2 hellish weeks at a required work convention in Orlando? I was ready to slap anyone who said ‘have a magical day’ by the time I got out of there.

I knocked on a lot of doors in western PA in the weeks before the election. Racism and misogyny of course, but my anecdotal experience heard more about inflation than anything else

National guard troops and regular army have a long history of gunning down American civilians. Labor history is full of examples and that’s not the only place to look. I hope it won’t happen again, but I’m far from confident that it won’t.
