Writer. Worrier. Tree whisperer.
Lives on England's northwest coast.
Has spent a lot of time in Zambia and Eswatini with her live-in archaeologist. Can cook for dozens over an open fire if bribed with wine. But would rather write poetry.
Good morning from the frosty north west coast of England. May the sun shine on your day.

The Zadie Xa room at the Turner prize exhibition at Cartwright Hall in Bradford. There is a soundscape too...

Also blue sky with a bit of a big Yorkshire mill and its chimney

If you're able to get to Bradford any time soon do go to Cartwright Hall in Lister Park and see the Turner Prize exhibition - all fascinating but this room, showing Zadie Xa's work reflecting in a mirrored floor is fabulous (well I think so!).

Not a Hockney. At Salt's Mill.
November 21, 2025 at 12:58 PM
No smoke. No clatter of looms. The usual incense-like scent of lilies and classical music filling the air in the sanctuary of Hockney works on the ground floor of Salt's Mill.

Where am I? Well, Waterstones but which city?

The last poet of the evening was performance poet @helenjeffery.bsky.social who is also a talented playwright, runs workshops online and in real life and also runs Sober Scribblers.
Thanks again to @rondavies.bsky.social for all the pics (sorry I left your name off the others Ron!)

Jeffa Kay's poetry journey began with an early prize winning debut at Formby Show as a child, but developed later as a response to grief after being widowed at a young age

Jenny Robb speaks from a deep well of experience working in mental health services

Matt Fallaize made me laugh with his experimental tongue twisting poetry and his postcard poetry - great way to start the evening.

What a great evening of #poetry we had Wednesday night in Ainsdale, #Southport at Mecycle cafe/bar/bike workshop - readings from (l-r) Helen Jeffery, Jenny Robb, Jeffa Kay and Matt Fallaize. Thanks to @rondavies.bsky.social for pic and Autism Initiatives for giving us the use of their lovely venue.

I didn't! That was a few weeks ago when I was at the Morecambe poetry festival. Great place to visit. The stuff in the church, if you can get in (we sneaked in between a Sunday service and a christening) is fascinating.

No bodies. But imaginings.

Tree. Too big to get it all in and not end up falling down a bank into a pond 😂

Always uncomfortable with the disruption of burials and looting of burial goods. Really don't like to see mummies on display.

In the midst of death, life. In our local Catholic cemetery on this wet and (mildly windy) day.

A rather delicious cup of tea - Melbourne tea with vanilla, timed with the egg timer to a three minute brew - at Eden, Newburgh, Lancashire.

I am a big fan of RS Thomas. And feel for poor Mildred. I've often been in the church in Aberdaron and this summer was able to get, for a second time, to Bardsey/Ynys Enlli. He dares to bare his soul. I love the poem Pilgrimages, 'such a fast God, always before us and leaving as we arrive.'

Great evening of poetry at the lovely Mecycle cafe, bar and bike workshop in Ainsdale, #Southport last night, with poets Alison Chisholm, Phil McNulty, Callan Waldron-Hall and Jennie E Owen.

Today I'm recovering from reading out loud to a group of adults in an upstairs room in a converted barn in Lancashire. Oh, the heady world of poetry! No one took pictures of the group (Jennie Owen, Phil Barnett, me) - we missed you @rondavies.bsky.social So here's an article in today's i newspaper

'Listen to the ocean, echoes of a million sea shells, forever it's in motion...' quoted lines from a song from a 1960s EP my mum owned of two people called Nina and Frederick.

One of the best things about autumn is red cabbage and one of the best things about red cabbage is it's beautiful when sliced.
