How do incentive based contracts work against the cap? AKA, for example the chargers have 8 mil in cap space and sign player X to a 5 million dollar deal worth upto 8 million. Do they still have 3 mil or does that 3 mil work like a signing bonus where it takes up space even if it is not realized?

They have shown us time and time again they dont care about pass catching during a time where you absolutely need it in the nfl. Terrible wrs again and a harder schedule, id be surprised if we are over .500
