In his short life, Smallie had a world-wide following. To pay tribute to beloved Smallie, his remains will be stuffed and displayed in the local Amersfoort bird museum.

After fledging successfully Smallie experienced a few mishaps requiring human intervention. Smallie's last mishap: He fell in a river. Fishermen pulled him out. Avian experts examined him, he seemed okay, so was put back in the nesting tower. Next morning, Smallie was found dead. 😢
