I am a retired boomer scientist who happens to hold several US patents along with corresponding foreign ones. I was probably using the internet before the original poster even knew what it was and one of my direct reports held security clearance because he was working on its development.

When I write a text, before I send it, I check for proper spelling, punctuation, and syntax. Needless to say, if the Oxford comma is required, I include it.
