First half at Brighton was exactly the same. Other away performances have been equally as bad. Too many dining out on the cup win and only putting in a shift when they fancy it

This is the usual away performance. We are playing with the intensity of a pre season friendly and being outworked again. We are rapidly turning into a soft touch. Doctor newcastle is back

Ultimately points on the board and league position are all that matters. These stats are a comfort blanket for when we don’t want to confront the uncomfortable truth that we’ve been poor for quite some time. It was always going to catch up with us

The trend extends to the back end of last season to be honest. The playing through the lines away to Brighton was a rinse and repeat of when Ferguson scored the hat trick with the same personnel in our midfield. We are vulnerable to a half decent number 10

What are you comparing them to in order to say they are consistently inept? Clearly you need a point of reference otherwise the statement is utterly meaningless

Obviously because it depends on your baseline. You said Pingel was shit but he’s won more international medals than any England player you can name who didn’t play in the 1966 World Cup. How exactly is he shit?

I never said they were shit, someone else did. No professional football has ever been truly shit by your logic simply by the fact a bloke off the street is far worse. They should be judged and critiqued by the standards they have set for themselves by previous performances

It’s all relative I suppose and it depends on how far back your memory goes. We are in an era where we’ve spend hundreds of millions do expectations are rightly adjusted. I’ve seen the likes of askew in the flesh but I don’t judge Gordon by his standards nor should I

These things aren’t mutually exclusive. It is possible to enjoy the journey while at points being critical when justified. I enjoyed the goal but that doesn’t wipe away a very disappointing performance

He’s just lost a bit of form, it happens to the best of them but the manager needs to make a call. Not sure if he will play himself back into form or needs a spell on the bench

We’ve played 2 extra games in the CL minus 1 less round in the carabao cup s basically 1 game where we heavily rotated anyway. The playing through the lines issue is longstanding and shows little sign of improvement

Can’t use that excuse for the midfield which is where the problems really were today again in the first half particularly. We look so one dimensional and easy to play through
