I taught middle school for 26 years before retiring and would find ways to deflect a trend by joining in on the silliness or repeatedly asking kids to explain it (like the forgetful adult I am) until they got frustrated and moved on to the next trend.

Mine does the figure eight and makes sure to pass by me just close enough for me to touch her as she goes by, because what fun are zoomies if we don't encourage the behavior in some way? 😃
