Then every company can offset the costs and start loosing profits which the shareholders won't look kindly on. An company that is publicly traded will always look after the shareholders first. Not great, but here we are. I am guessing where you work they would eat the costs of tariffs, right?

Cost goes beyond hardware price, R&D and other things have to be factored in over a life time of sale. It is true Nintendo typically is the only one who sells their consoles at profit at launch, but 153.10 million sold and recording breaking Switch 2 sales, must be doing something right.

So what are companies supposed to do, eat the cost? MS did it with the Xbox already, Nintendo just did, PC handhelds coming out soon will be a bit more than previous, other things have gone up in price. Sony said in May they had a 3 month surplus of consoles, it's almost 3 months...they are next.
