I used to live between two small villages in Kent. The tennant farmers hated the hunts because they destroyed hedges, wrecked crops and terrified livestock. Of course, they couldn't complain because the twats in red on horses owned the farms and could evict anyone who complained.

I think I did!
I agree, but it is quite a small subset of the need though. Our lease is up in January and we wanted to extend the lease to try and get as much return on our investment as possible. It was turned down by motability and we need to find a new vehicle...

By can't drive, do you mean don't have a licence? This type of vehicle would be great for a disabled single person with comparatively good mobility.
I remember the old three wheel vehicles that had the same short comings. They were not allowed on motorways and tended to roll over and catch fire!

If they want OR NEED anything other than a small / medium family car they need to pay an up front fee. Thus there is minimal (no?) additional "burden" on the state for people who want or need a bigger, more expensive vehicle. You need to fund the bulk of most adaptations yourself.

Motability is just a car leasing company that uses the same business model as other lease companies: bulk purchase discounted new cars and selling after three years. The user sacrifices all of the (higher rate) mobility element of their PIP for all but the smallest cars.

Are disabled people are not allowed to have passengers? Not all disabled people are able to drive. Where would they sit? My wife needs a hoist to lift her from her wheelchair into the passenger seat. This means that we need a bigger vehicle to allow for the height required.

So, the head of the Reform Students wing (the Farage Youth?) is a 43 year, old cos playing as a 60 year old eugenicist? Could they not find a younger fascist for the role?

I read them! Yours are very good and add to the fun!

Nope!

Yes, that abomination happened while I was there. The member of the landed gentry with the same name who, of course, didn't go to the school thought it was hilarious, apparently

My old school. Although it was 20 - 30 years before my time and had moved across town. But, still my school. Bit like Trigger's broom...

And yes, it was the SAME passport each time.
June 14, 2025 at 12:46 PM
I was an Associate Lecturer for Anglia Ruskin for ten years. For five they insisted that I present my passport at HR as proof of right to work. It was a remote, distance learning role. I would schlep over to campus, they would copy the passport and I would put in a £75 travel claim.

My wife has been caught by identical companies, they have office addresses and phone numbers in NL or SE but when the crappy stuff turns up the return address is in China and they offer a reduced refund if you keep the crap. Or, recently a 50% credit note. They were featured on Watchdog this week.

There is an excellent podcast about her life by @davidolusoga.bsky.social and @sarahchurchwell.bsky.social called Journey Through Time (@throughtimepod.bsky.social), can thoroughly recommend!

Why would I want knobs? I have a nice smooth glass rectangle that is the best hob I have ever used, gas or electric, and just needs a wipe down.
Though, my daughters kitten thought it was the best iPad ever and couldn't work out where the fish were!

Wondering if the impact of the asteroid hitting the moon would be greater than hitting the earth where it would be likely to burn up (a bit) and maybe break up (a bit) and could miss inhabited areas. The moon would get the full force and its orbit could be affected and not in a good way...

Well, as long as they both go over...
Perhaps they could hold hands on the way down...

Scandinavia *is* pretty Special to be fair. They are, apparently, very happy...

Made the 'previous' version yesterday (no peel and with chocolate covered coffee beans), it is the best Christmas cake ever and none of that tooth breaking / tooth curlingly sweet icing. Plus, the 'bowl licking' is gorgeous!
Looking forward to a slice tomorrow with a slab of cheese to go with it!
