A fascinating discussion, which brought out the power of the 5-step approach from TLAP.
A full room to launch new research showing how better communication can strengthen public support for adult social care, as well as tips to help communicators put the insights and recommendations into action.

To celebrate the #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons, we’ve added a new story to #CareCantWait.

With the support of her carers, 92-year-old Pam is able to live independently at home, surrounded by family, friends, neighbours & the community that she loves.

In 2017, I was admitted to hospital when I became poorly with pneumonia. I also have a condition called Haemochromatosis, which means my body absorbs and stores too much iron. If it’s not treated, it ...

Having had some dealings with Sally, her move into this role feels like excellent news. Looking forward to working with her over the months to come.

Great to have such a passionate, expert, and skilled President taking up the reins. So much that needs to be done in social care, and where @adass.bsky.social can make such a positive difference.
Today we welcomed @jessmcp.bsky.social as new ADASS President. She said: “Our strength comes not from a single voice, but from all of us, asking questions, learning together, and always striving to do better.” Read her speech: www.adass.org.uk/adasss-new-president-jess-mcgregors-keynote-speech/

“By amplifying real-life stories, proving how well-funded and supported social care can help people to thrive, we can show why it warrants further investment,” @jessmcp.bsky.social, discusses our new Care Can’t Wait campaign in the MJ.

It was an excellent session, with Sir Julian displaying a refreshing frankness about the position that CQC is in, & partners underlining their commitment to support the improvement journey, for the sake of all people drawing on care and support. #springseminar25

“ADASS’ #CareCantWait campaign doesn’t just talk about crisis, but explains clearly what social care is, why it matters, and how it can be better." Incoming ADASS President, @jessmcp.bsky.social launches our campaign at our Spring Seminar alongside Abbie-Jo Lawrence & @neilmcrowther.bsky.social.

Fantastic discussion at #ADASSspringseminar25 with Abbie-Jo Lawrence talking as a person with lived experience of social care. Her key line: “It’s about what’s strong, not what’s wrong”, how choice and control is central to enabling people to lead their own unique gloriously ordinary lives.

So important that we develop a strong narrative about how good social care is about making it possible for people to live as full members of their communities. Social care is about far more than just hospital discharge of older people (important though that is).
Today we launch our new #CareCantWait campaign, sharing stories of how good adult social care can enable us to live meaningful lives in our homes and communities, but reform and investment are urgently needed to achieve this for everyone. Find out more: www.adass.org.uk/care-cant-wait/

Such an important area for us to be focused on.
So pleased to support this event as @adass.bsky.social president. We all agree there is more we can do to support our young people to grow up and think about how policy and practice wraps around this, rather than seeing transitions as a passing on event. Excited to see the change we build today!
