I'm sorry, Ros, but I'm afraid I can't do that.

I'll see your "wankpuffin" and raise you a "cockwomble".

Just off this 'poplar avenue' there's a very old wild pear tree.
August 18, 2025 at 9:22 PM
The other side of the path and one Lombardy poplar still hanging on while another has started to regrow from the hollowed out stump.

These are both at the top of the 'poplar avenue' where the poplars are nearing the end of their lives (planted around 1930s). And the base of one of the dead ones is circled with fungus.

Haven't posted for a while (again) so I'm mixing some pictures from two weeks ago and some from last Sunday - with slightly different aspect ratios just to make things weird.
It was warm and sunny so let's start with fungi.
Honey fungus on a tree stump in the path and some other species on another.

You're not the only one making that journey. Not me. But seen very early on Thursday morning going through Wembley Central just before my train.

Finally, a red kite
in a tree
then flying away
This is as close as I could get before it left.

Also
sloes - a long way from being ready to pick, still green so lots of shades of blue/black to go
apples - still all green
acorns - not fully grown yet

These are from a couple of weeks ago so things will have changed since:
hawthorn - still green so not ripe
blackberries - some green, some red, one black
cherry plums (I think) - pale yellow but ripe, which is why they're already falling

This sort of thing doesn't get you any respect - he just hasn't worked that out yet.

Quite a few comments below the line, from 'both sides'.
One deleted by moderators; replies imply it was out and out racist (even more so than the article).
One deactivated but maybe I went a bit off piste:

I'm in the company trial of OpenAI (Microsoft's offering) and, so far, it seems to be embedded in most Office365 products and aimed, by default, at managers. Hence it's an easy pitch to people of that mindset. And everyone says it's the future and management FOMO is a powerful driver.
