Those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it as the old expression goes. Quislings and collaborators rarely die peacefully asleep in their beds...

Found some old seed packets recently, so decided to repurpose a disused planter to see if I could grow a little vegetable garden in my bathroom. First sprouts after a week or so… radishes, a pea, and not sure what the other one is, but it sure looks promising. Always such a joy to watch every day.

Quite a dismal little road when not being illuminated by light from the setting sun.

Floor plan of a 267 sq. ft. (25 m2) “shoebox” condo that’s half the size of those typically built 40-50 years ago and have been cynically designed and built in recent decades (around the GTA especially) mostly with investors and developers, not tenants, in mind.

Striking photo of the 1919 homecoming parade in Kansas City, MO, featuring the victory arch built to welcome back returning soldiers. Many such “temporary” structures were erected around the US following WWI, though most were demolished not long afterwards (much like those built for world’s fairs).

Over the weekend, Trump granted full pardons to 77 allies involved in the criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results, including Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and Sidney Powell. This brings the total number of pardons and commutations issued to 1,677—in less than a year!

“Veteran Sailor” (2011) a bronze statue on a park bench overlooking the Inner Harbour by Victoria, BC sculptor Nathan Scott. The work commemorates the lengthy service of Captain John Mason, a Royal Canadian Navy veteran who fought in both WWII and the Korean War.

Partially colourized version of 1937 photograph of flood victims lining up for food in Louisville, KY, taken by Margaret Bourke-White for “LIFE” magazine, showing an ironic disparity between idealized American prosperity and the reality of poverty and racial inequality.

The National War Memorial in Ottawa. Bronze figures of soldiers comprising “The Response of Canada” to the Great War (as it was then still called) by the English sculptor Vernon March. Started in 1928 and completed in 1932 by March’s six brothers and his sister following his untimely death in 1930.

Somebody should tell Trump what this random guy on Twitter had to say almost precisely 12 years ago about leadership. 😉

Does anyone but mouth-breathing MAGA cultists believe Trump has a clue about what “the founders” thought about tariffs? Unlikely given he’s never read the Constitution, let alone the Federalist Papers. Fact is they had differing opinions, but all understood that tariffs must be enacted by Congress!

Another view showing how Trump has tackled inflation.

MTG giving credit to the Trump administration for bringing down inflation; even though it was 3% when he took office on January 20th (up from the previous month & a six-month high, btw) whereas now it’s running at... 3% (as of September, the last time official data was available).

“AUTOPEN”... A cognitively dissonant screed on Pravda Social trashing “Sleepy” Joe Biden; presumably written by Dan Scavino, Steve Cheung, or some other White House minion to soothe the ego of “The Nodfather”.

Trump hardly even seems to be trying here. Must be tuckered out after yet another exhausting weekend of prancing about his opulent swamp castle and golfing on the taxpayer’s dime (well 710 million of them, actually).

It would seem that a message has been sent into the CONservative echosphere directing blonde-haired influencers to inform people that Pierre Poilievre is actually NOT a humourless little prick or a lightless chasm of negativity with all the compassionate warmth of a refrigerator.

St. John the Evangelist Church in the Yorkshire village of Sleights. Often played in that graveyard as a kid because we lived directly across the street. My folks attended services every Sunday, but didn’t take long to realize it was mainly just for socializing over the tea/biscuits afterwards.
