Coming in April 2026!

This truly fabulous volume will be published early next year and putting this together was just a great journey. It allowed working together with many amazing scholars from different parts of the world and I profited so much from reading and engaging with all the chapters.

Re. Australia Day, the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party continues the tradition of writing Aboriginal people out of history, arguing that the establishment of the British colony in the late 18th century was just the acquisition of a depopulated, natural landscape. Terra nullius all over again...

Just found out that we didn't have this very interesting volume available in our university's library...

In late 2023, there has also been a new publication (in English!) on the Bad Dürrenberg shaman in this Open Access volume that provides some information on the results of the new excavations of the burial! /31

Unfortunately, the performance did not happen as originally planned and was cancelled in 2024. However, the team has declared that they won't give up and I am looking forward to further updates! /29

Together with Frank Paetzold, she has also published a children's book on the Bad Dürrenberg shaman and the history of its discovery. It can be ordered globally as a print-on-demand book. /26

But beyond these considerations it is also important to acknowledge that the burial of Bad Dürrenberg has significant meaning to the local people living in the town today. Petra Paetzold, for example, has offered guided tours for a long time, educating children about its importance. /25

And here is another screenshot... from the same episode of Barbarians, Season 2. As I said earlier in the thread, it is interesting how an image that is based on a Mesolithic burial that is ca. 9,000 years old can inspire the depiction of a Germanic 'priestess' during Roman times. /23

in 2022, the second season of Barbarians was also released on @netflix.com and it seems that the use of Bad Dürrenberg-inspired costume has been continued (not surprisingly). Here are a couple of screenshots from the first episode. /22

This here was another miniature of the Bad Dürrenberg shaman from a German company but the figure has now disappeared from the web. /20

In 2022, the burial of Bad Dürrenberg featured in the exhibition The World of Stonehenge at the British Museum. @sally-annspence.bsky.social put together this great thread, you can find it below. /18

Here is another case how the shaman of Bad Dürrenberg continues to inspire people! It is a variation of the original reconstruction and a small painted sculpture. On the website, the original artwork is also properly acknowledged. Fantastic work! /17
