La inflación de notas ha ocurrido incluso en universidades como Harvard, donde el porcentaje de notas A (=máxima calificación) ha pasado del 26% al 60% en sólo 20 años 🤯.

Si todos tenemos A entonces A no significa nada.

Sad to hear of Peter Minkowski’s passing. His work on grand unification and the seesaw mechanism left a lasting mark on particle physics.
He is part of a remarkable lineage:
Sommerfeld → Pauli → Fierz → Minkowski.

Yang has died at 103, just 8 months short of being the longest-lived Nobel laureate. Record: Rita Levi-Montalcini (1909–2012).

I guess the 68 years after the Nobel are indeed a record.

C.N. Yang, a giant of physics, has passed away.
Renowned for the Lee–Yang hypothesis of parity violation, Yang–Mills gauge theories, and so much more.
He received the Nobel Prize... 68 years ago! 🤯

Just learned that Pepe Bernabéu was the first Spaniard to hold a Staff Member position in CERN’s Theory Division (1971-1978). Yet another example of what a true trailblazer he was.

In 1900 the number of senior faculty in theoretical physics was 8 in Germany, 2 in the US, 1 in Holland, and none in the British Empire.

The emergence of theoretical physics as a semi-autonomous discipline is a 20th-century phenomenon.
