Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Talents (1998) feels eerily prescient today.
I doubt she could have imagined just how close America would come to her vision.

I was not expecting to see this in Eason, Patrick Street, Cork, today

I really really enjoyed @28dayslayter.bsky.social
I intentionally read nothing about it before hand. (Didn’t watch trailer)
It was far artier than I expected. (Sort of Shane Meadows meets Video Nasties imo)
On reflection & reading I realise how many things I missed.
2nd /3rd viewings required.

One of our crafty neighbours has created these beautiful birdhouses.
Every time I walk by I marvel at the planning, patience blood sweat and tears that must have went into them.

I really enjoyed the “Labour of Love:
Economies of care in contemporary art” exhibition at @glucksman.bsky.social Even if I did think this 3D sculpture was a real person and I said to him / it “jeez, I thought you were part of the exhibition ha ha” when I saw it first 😂 it’s creepily real.

Great #asl2025 keynote by @thekindbraveleader.bsky.social on why we should consciously bring kindness into our libraries.
It benefits everybody: our students, our users, our colleagues.

Love this plaque outside @leedsbeckett.bsky.social Library honouring the meeting of Marc Almond and Dave Ball / Soft Cell at the University

HT @librariancoral.bsky.social for taking the pic and sending on. She guessed I’d love it - she was correct. 😊

I’m rereading George Orwell’s 1984, this time in graphic novel form. (Fido Nesti’s wonderful 2021 rendition of the work)
Orwell was a prophet!
This is happening the world over.
And we are all becoming proles.

At times it might seem the whole world is going to hell in a handcart. It's at these moments I remember the sage advice of Charles Schulz...
"No problem is so big or so complicated that it can't be run away from!"

I’ve gone next level - toasted cheese and Tayto sandwich for lunch.
No nutrition but OMG delicious.

It’s that time of the year again. #spotifywrapped but in my defence I do two radio shows for work which slightly skews my results (and how much I listen to Spotify)

Lovely orange sky in Glounthaune, Cork, this morning.

I don’t know if I will ever be able to use LinkedIn again. 😂
Saw this on Instagram. Brilliant video by Farrel Hegrarty. (Can’t find an account on BlueSky but her Insta account is well worth checking out)
