While the memo that details the revamp will not be made public, parts of the plan shared with Recorded Future News show DOD expects it to take several years to implement its initiatives — up to fiscal 2033 in some cases.

Even though the use of Section 702 by the U.S. intelligence community, and particularly the FBI, is “much, much better than it was, I think it would be a much heavier lift,” @jahimes.bsky.social said.

All NSA employees are required to watch the video of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s town hall address to U.S. military brass.

It's unclear why NSA civilians need watch it, since there are no standards for things like facial hair or physical fitness.

Joe Francescon, who in August was picked to serve as NSA deputy director has yet to officially begin wor. Sheila Thomas, who has filled the post in an acting capacity since April, recently submitted her retirement paperwork.

It’s unclear who the administration will now choose for the job. One name is Reid Novotny, who served as director of intelligence & cyber effects operations for the National Guard & is the senior military policy adviser at the Office of the National Cyber Director.

Hartman, who has been leading both entities in an acting capacity since April, was recently informed of the decision and submitted his retirement paperwork this week.

The choice was made, in part, after Hartman failed to impress key DOD leaders.
