United Nations Human Rights - UN experts welcome recognition from International Court of Justice that all States must protect the climate system 28 July 2025 „Welcoming the ICJ’s extensive clarification that climate change affects human rights, such as life, health, adequate standard of living, protection from arbitrary displacement, and private life, and the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, experts emphasised the Court’s corroboration of the disproportionate climate impacts on children, Indigenous Peoples, rural communities, women, migrants, persons with disabilities, and people in vulnerable situations, as extensively documented by the UN human rights system. They highlighted the unprecedented recognition by the Court that the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment is a “precondition”, “inherent,” and “essential” for the enjoyment of all other human rights.‟

Der IGH beantwortet Fragen der Generalversammlung der Vereinten Nationen bezüglich der Pflichten von Staaten zum Schutz des Klimas vor anthropogenen Emissionen und den rechtlichen Konsequenzen, wenn Staaten dem Klimasystem erheblichen Schaden zufügen. Das Gutachten identifiziert verbindliche Verpflichtungen aus Klimaverträgen und dem Völkergewohnheitsrecht sowie aus anderen Umwelt- und Menschenrechtsabkommen. Es betont die Verantwortlichkeit von Staaten für Völkerrechtsverletzungen im Zusammenhang mit Klimaschäden, auch durch Versäumnisse bei der Regulierung privater Akteure, und stellt fest, dass kausale Zusammenhänge trotz der Komplexität des Klimawandels wissenschaftlich belegbar sind. Die Ergebnisse des Gutachtens sollen die internationalen Bemühungen zur Bewältigung der Klimakrise rechtlich untermauern.

EU-Aktionstag für die Opfer der Klimakrise Dieser Tag wurde 2023 ins Leben gerufen und wird jährlich am 15. Juli begangen. Warum? Ganz einfach: Damit mehr Leute wissen, was los ist, wir die Opfer nicht vergessen und alle gemeinsam was gegen den Klimawandel tun! Dabei geht's vor allem um die Auswirkungen vor Ort und darum, dass wir uns anpassen und weniger Emissionen verursachen müssen. Das Ziel ist, dass jeder – ob Einzelperson oder Organisation – auf nationaler, regionaler und lokaler Ebene mitmacht und dabei hilft, uns widerstandsfähiger gegen Klimarisiken zu machen.
