This speculation is a lot more insidious. Adhere to the “social contract” in our rarified circles & you’ll get to sleep w/ a king or a prince and further your influence and wealth. They were promised 2 handsome princes. Every twisted act is depleting the “handsome” out of the prince who stayed.
