How money shapes power, culture, and the stories we live by.
Structural failures, real-world costs.

It's even worse than this. Mainstream media is corporate media, and acts in accordance to its ownership structure (with some noise around the signal for added credibility). They criticize if convenient (see tariffs) and do not when it is not convenient (see genocide).
Phang: Where are Americans supposed to go now to get their news? They come here. They come to independent media because we are not controlled by corporate overlords.

This is the place you have to come now—because mainstream media is showing that it’s too scared to stand up to Donald Trump.

Is this the start of a structural shift in the labor market brought on by AI (or, in these early stages, AI-as-scapegoat) that no amount of reskilling will temper? Geoffrey Hinton is skeptical that reskilling will make a material impact on the labor market. For what it's worth, so am I.

We need to have a deeper conversation about the impact of AI on society under various assumptions. E.g., what happens if massive white-collar job loss occurs 12+ months before the 2028 presidential election? Or a few months before, or after? Will the response change? How?

I am asking this question to learn, without snark. Do you know of any conservatives of this current generation who: 1) argue in good faith; 2) are well-informed; 3) focus on pocketbook and related issues; 4) disagree with the political left around values?

Teaching, modeling, and championing critical thinking should be the goal, always and everywhere, to the extent that the recipient is cognitively able to engage, and to the extent that the teaching does not endanger the recipient (no philosophical debate with a toddler in the middle of a busy road).
