The dot com era infrastructure does not translate directly to AI with LLMs. Chips seem to be becoming obsolete very quickly requiring continuous upgrading.

Post 9/11. The ‘war on terror’, conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the poppy became about ‘our boys’ rather than remembrance. The ritual of repatriation of British casualties at Wootton Basset played on our TV screens regularly. Its meaning changed during this time.

The left behind story tends to ignore urban deprivation where Reform support will be very low. Reform tends to draw support from places in demographic decline, largely deindustrialised regions with older populations and fewer graduates.

Substantial speeches help you communicate on TikTok and also in fragmented media environment more broadly because they tell people, including your own comms and activists, what you’re about and that helps them. But the problem is her speeches are not substantial.

What is the best way to communicate in 2025? Selfie video walking down the street posted on TikTok? This generation of leading politicians is incapable of doing that. I guess Trump gets his message across with long rambling press conferences.
