I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Small acts of resistance: teaching MEng civil engineering students about money creation and the "how do we pay for it" idiot question #greeninfrastructure. Also the need for #modalshift to #rail for the climate.

There is no more important challenge than the climate emergency.

That is why I will vote against Heathrow expansion.

Climate campaigners have defeated this before — and we will fight back again.

#HeathrowExpansion won’t deliver growth. Business demand is falling & more tourists leave than arrive. But it *will* trash climate commitments, drive more extreme weather, noise & air pollution & only benefit frequent flying super-emitters - the 15% who take 75% of flights. Labour should be better

In 2018, the Prime Minister opposed a third runway at Heathrow.

Now, in the middle of a climate emergency, his government is backing it.

A complete U-turn at the expense of local communities and the planet.

Reckless, short-sighted and indefensible.

I will say this: civil engineers, and in particular, members of @ice-engineers.bsky.social should not work on a third runway at Heathrow. There is no sustainability argument for one and to facilitate it is in contravention of point 4 of our code of conduct.

Had enough now of pathetic excuses and the March of the hate-fuelled far right wrong 'uns and grifters

I believe we can change the course of our history

And it begins in 2025 👍🏼👍🏼

Hugely significant. Mrs Thatcher did some ruinous things, but apart from Right to Buy, this was probably the worst.

@garethdennis.bsky.social I think your book should have been entitled: "How the railways could fix the future if successive governments were not all composed of cretinous, uncaring morons." But perhaps not the right ring...

The cost-of-living crisis is far from over, yet the government’s 50% increase to the bus fare cap is a political choice, adding hundreds to annual costs.

To address hardship & the climate crisis, the government must keep the £2 cap & make public transport accessible for all.
