Saltation: the dancing, hopping, or leaping movement of particles. When the wind picks up after a couple of days of low winds, the sand grains on the beach are set in motion.

Collected some blue mussels in the Wadden Sea today for use in a #MarineEcology student practical at Wageningen University later this week. We're going to look for parasites.

Last night, 22 November, was a wonderful evening in Rotterdam, awarding the 'Grote Maaskantprijs' by the mayor Carola Schouten. The prize is for design and (landscape) architecture and was awarded to the map makers of 'the Netherlands 2120' map and the movement that came from it. I'm proud!

This is a Red-breasted Goose, a rare visitor in the Netherlands. Today, I was lucky to find one inside a group of hundreds of Barnacle Geese.
