Wildlife photographer mainly around Kilnsea, Spurn and The Humber.
A great day out on the Humber was topped by this magnificent male hen harrier.

Speaking as a retired construction project manager, the installation of swift bricks is not technically demanding nor significantly costly. Why anyone would vote against this, while in the middle of an ecological emergency, is beyond me.
Last night, Peers voted against Swift bricks: rejecting a simple, proven way to help one of our fastest declining birds recover. ❌

We share @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social's disappointment & frustration.

The vote came late, but with government refusing to back it, its fate was already sealed.

We arrived for #Migfest this afternoon and it got off to a good start with a little stint on the beach between Kilnsea and Easington. Dramatic skies over the Humber

Migfest migration festival at Spurn is the hottest nature event of the year & tickets were sold out weeks ago, such is the demand for this prestigious event.
For anyone with a ticket, I will be doing my usual two hr workshop on both days between 9am and 11am. martin-standley.squarespace.com/blog

I had a nice day at Spurn yesterday. Nice light for common waders and a wood warbler and white-rumped sandpiper added extra interest.

Some nice moths in our Beverley garden this week. Highlight being a webb’s wainscot and my personal favourite frosted orange. A distinctly autumnal feel this morning.

A nice little wander before breakfast this morning. It's nice to have scenes like this within 5 minutes from home. Kingfisher and green woodpecker the were nice but the real highlight was just being out on such a gorgeous morning.

This is happening right now on a major housing development in Beverley. I have complained to planning enforcement and the case is currently ongoing.

I had a great morning at Bridlington today. -1 at half 7 but great for common waders and gulls as the sun rose. This kingfisher must have been frozen out of its usual haunts as it fed at the bottom of south pier. It caught at least 3 fish and shrimp while I was there.

All of this cold weather had me thinking about 2 memorable early mornings in the summer. Sat on Kilnsea beach before dawn watching little terns diving no more than 10 yards away. Wow!
