To conclude, I feel like I've been thrust into something completely new and unexpected. Its rated 4.56 on Goodreads so it really can't be as difficult as I feel it to be. Maybe this just my problem. Maybe my opinions will change when I finish the book.

Lastly, I feel that the dragons, the military academy, and the war, were all side topics in comparison to the romance. About 15 hours into the book, I finally realized the full extent of the "romantasy" and that this was the true plot. Everything else be damned, because nothing else made sense.

Secondly, the characters are... frustrating. They are rather two dimensional, barely develop, and they act and speak as if they were children. I expected more maturity from the characters. Yet, the level of passive aggressiveness, the pettiness, really made me shake my head throughout the story.

Firstly, the book is very different than what I imagined the book to be based on the synopsis and reviews. I imagined a gritty story revolving around warfare, survival and political intrigue. But it turned out that I missed the true genre tag - romantasy.
