Also, especially in the humanities, there are many “failed academics” or at least ones who never interview for tenure track jobs. Some run out of steam, some run out of money. So lots of people telling stories. What I saw looked like too many people for too few jobs. I taught part time. It was ok.

I rented throughout my working life, partly because I moved to different cities for work and school, but I mainly just loved city life. Then I retired and bought a little house. More trouble than I expected and lots of attitude from people who acted like I was suddenly respectable.

She can do that, which is good, and I appreciate her doing so. What Miller and Vance tried to do with that was shameful. I saw a lot of people bullied into silence.

I spent a lot of time with Constable but had completely forgotten about this painting. I had a wonderful teacher, Malcolm Cormack, from the Courtauld. He worked in Virginia for some years. Pretty sure he showed us this.
