This is a pretty brilliant explainer of the Nuzzi scandal that has everyone in media watching in horrified, can’t-look-away, car-wreck fascination. Written in just the right way.

It is truly nuts. My texts are all people who don’t know if they have a job day to day as the gov goes under takeover, my Bluesky is all coup freakout, the papers are all super incremental (a word is not found on a site, two people lost healthcare), TV is all plane crash
I know my social feed is a matter of who I choose to follow, but the disconnect right now between the news I’m seeing on here and what I see on cable news is much greater than any time during Trump I. And I doubt my Bsky feed now is that different from my Twitter feed then.
What I saw of CNN and MSNBC was also almost entirely focused on the planes

I’ve written a lot of things in the past decade but this list of tips on reading more books is the thing I continue to get the most messages about—a strong case for the importance of service journalism!
My number one New Year’s resolution is to basically live by this @knguyen.bsky.social article about how to read more books — especially replacing all my aimless scrolling with reading a few pages. (I will not be replacing podcasts, though. Podcasts rule.)
How to Read a Whole Damn Book Every Week
It may sound difficult, but the secret to reading a book every week is to not be precious about it.

The news industry is really difficult financially. @bluesky may be a new path forward. Anyone have any ideas how to make it a platform where media companies want to post news first ? And a platform where reporters, commentators, etc can make a living ?
