Universities tend to have strict branding guidelines, including with respect to colors. I suspect that Columbia Blue would have been the appropriate color to use for official communications.

I once read a piece of writing advice saying to avoid multiple directional changes in the same sentence. Had to read “increased lower elevation” like 3 times.

Super real. I've always liked em dashes (counted 39 in my master's thesis from 3 years) and now idk if I can keep using them.

Depends on what exactly the "update" is about. Did she have a surgery or are you just checking in?

I'd listen at 2x speed (I do this anyway for most voice memos)

Econ (because we are such naughty imperialists) spans such a broad range. Some research is also closer to eg computer science

well, it’s a social science. Not a natural science. In German, we make this distinction more clearly whereas in the US, we usually use “science” to mean “natural science.”

In German it's also a blue eye. I think the color changes throughout different periods of healing. Sometimes it's also green-ish

haha well, my initial instinct was responding with something sassy like "why don't you leave some food in the fridge for a bit and find out?" or point out that my composting worms also eat fungus that I can't eat.

But as an officer in the UCSD Mycology Club, I was curious and googled.

It appears so

I guess the Eighth Amendment protects against cruel and unusual punishment, not universal punishment

I’m not sure that these are immediately incompatible positions. iirc there’s good evidence that speed cameras reduce racial bias in policing, for instance.

fun fact that might explain the different pronounciations!

No doubt, I never said otherwise! ICE’s actions are abhorrent one way or the other
