The majority of the new viewers who flocked to their screens today is likely to ridicule its content and intention. Associations with this scene from the cult Bareja’s “Teddy Bear” movie are inevitable and will strengthen the perception of PiS government’s departure as “the end of an era” in Poland.

The only MPs who signed up for the questions represented Law and Justice and its former coalition partners. The MPs notoriously went over their allocated time in an apparent attempt to cause a delay in the proceedings.

After a presentation of his programme by PM Morawiecki and brief responses from the party representatives, the floor was opened to questions from all MPs. Then PM responded to the questions which was followed by the vote of confidence for his government (lost only a few minutes ago).

That the elections of 15 Oct was mired in ambiguity - neither fair nor obviously fraudulent - highlights this deliberate distortion designed to dramatically increase the incumbent’s chances of staying in power.

We argued that although populists often claim that #illiberalism does not threaten #democracy in its essence, but merely challenges its liberal component, in fact they gradually and purposefully destroy the principle of electoral fairness in a hard-to-capture manner.

TL;DR We reflected on the idea of electoral fairness and show how the incumbent PiS party was using its position and state resources to tilt the playing field. In that respect we identified key practices concerning the electoral law, public resources, and the media.
