I had a traumatic encounter with an art teacher back in grade school. I worked very hard in that class only to receive a B for my effort. I was an A student and so when this happened I went to the teacher to ask why and to see if there was something I could do to improve my grade?

I was up thinking about how we represent through our digital selves. This is my current Bitmoji. Is she an accurate representation of what I look like in the real world? Probably not. But is she supposed to be? Is it dishonest if I create an avatar that doesn’t look like my actual self?

Scrolling through my photos from Ghana put a smile on my face this morning. This moment in particular made me reflect on what it means to have the privilege of knowing and accessing my history. It is a privilege many do not enjoy because there are people who benefit from their ignorance. #BHM
