#MosaicMonday from the floor of Santa Maria Assunta in Aquileia Italy. 4th century
Part of a church mosaic floor installed in the 4th century. In the center is an octopus. Design is of a gray circular body, with a white circle in the middle. The body is outlined in black and has 7 legs. I counted several times to see if I missed the 8th leg. Two cute eyes are at the bottom of the gray body. The eyes are two black circles with black dots in the center. To the right and left of the “septapod” are fish. Above it are fish and birds. Below are geometric designs. The church is Santa Maria Assunta in Aquileia Friuli Venezia Giulia Italy
