Same here. The werewolf books were actually okay, but the prose was wildly overdone (I’m not sure when she sailed off into the purple zone). So much description of what everyone was wearing (which was often the same thing she always had them wearing).

Lasher was a key character in the Mayfair Witches books (loved #1, not so much #2 and #3). I don’t remember him crossing over into the vampire ones, but some of the later ones are kind of murky in retrospect.

I actually like him as an actor and don’t mind looking at him, but he was not the right fit for the role of Lasher.

Can relate. Yesterday I was like, how is it still the week? How are there still days left in this week?

I haven’t watched Talamasca yet but Mayfair was pretty wretched. Two epic casting fuckups in key roles (Alexandra Daddario and Jack Huston). And season 1 looks much like season 1 of Drag Race did, as if there was a layer of Vaseline on the camera lens. There were bits I did like, but mostly meh.

Weirdly enough, I have more or less halted my lifelong horrific IBS by taking an HCL supplement with every meal (I’m using two strengths based on portion size and time of day), and now I’m thinking these things might not be such a bad idea. I’m so used to the other extreme that, well, you know.

I’m enjoying this mental picture very much.

I have also wondered if that’s where this is headed. But I’ve also wondered if there’s a “make Bones look like the Chosen One” bit of sleight of hand going on. I could see Silllexa or even Elle winning.
November 14, 2025 at 10:31 PM
Same. I also like Silllexa, but the last three eliminations have been ridiculous. I am sure we’ll get a Catrin vs Tayris next time, for the drama. If we get an episode that starts out with Ru questioning them about their relationship (if it even amounted to anything), we know where it’s going.

It was a very WTF episode.

My husband got me into Drag Race about 10 years ago. I remember Pork Chop from North Carolina back in the day. We’d have to swat pterodactyls off the stage.

I think part of the appeal is the repetitiveness. I have a theory that RuPaul is autistic (after tonight, Bones too). There is a soothing stimming quality to the franchise: you know what’s going to happen, but it’s all so sparkly and fabulous that you can sort of overlook the obvious formula.

That sounds like a worthwhile goal.

My 2nd flat in Hong Kong was across the street from a karaoke place. There was a speaker outside, and they’d blast that song on repeat over the holidays. Almost drove me out of my goddamn mind. I kept filing complaints with the police until the place ended up shutting down. I still hate the song.

Interestingly enough, we just passed Sally TM on the sidewalk in Covent Garden. We didn’t stop or anything but it was a cool “was that who I think that was?” moment.

I haven’t heard that one before. Have you ever tried it? (I’m kind of weird in that I don’t usually have bread in the house. I like it a little too much.)

It depends on the type of onions. Red ones aren’t as pungent. Sometimes I substitute leeks. I have also been known to put on swimming goggles.
