I start with a sandpaper or scotchbrite scuff. Then use a plastic adhesion promoter. That will soften/etch the surface for things to stick to it. You can usually get those in spray form at the auto parts store. Then prime and paint.

Follow up: I had waaaay to mich salt, so I had to add some unsalted tomato sauce, black pepper and a little more vinegar. Tasting good now! Just letting it simmer to cook off some water

That truck is a spitting image to an old coworker of mine from 10+ years ago. Same configuration, same color, same hubcaps, same topper, same peeling hood paint. It's an uncanny match.

For anyone curious, I am using OpenToonz. I am just scratching the surface of the program. Today, I was watching tutorials for skeletons to up my animating game. In the end, this should help me make animations for our homebrew pinball
