BUT servicers are currently only processing applications for:
✅ Borrowers who are married to a partner with no income
OR
✅ Borrowers who filed their taxes as single #medsky

One important trend I’ve noticed: Clients who submit their IDR applications directly to their loan servicers are seeing faster processing times. #medsky

The Department of Education (yes, it's still functioning!) has instructed loan servicers to begin processing IDR plans again, plans like IBR, ICR, and PAYE. #medsky

For now, stay informed and know that PSLF is still the law of the land unless a court or Congress decides otherwise. The battle isn’t over yet, and we need to keep pushing for protection of these essential programs.

Public service workers, especially in immigrant services, are rightfully concerned. If this goes through, it could affect your debt forgiveness timeline or make qualifying jobs ineligible. But don’t panic, these changes aren’t set in stone. #MedDebt #PublicServants

That’s why this is so legally complicated. Trump’s attempt to alter PSLF via executive action could violate existing statutes, leading to major legal challenges. Courts will have to weigh in on whether the executive branch can override congressional law or use rulemaking to change it.

PSLF is written into law, meaning any major changes like this would typically require Congressional approval. However, changes are still possible through negotiated rulemaking, where the executive branch works with stakeholders to create new regulations. #StudentLoanRelief #PublicService
