It’s been a while, but I’ve done some things for #IndexingYourHeart yesterday and can’t wait to show you what I’ve been cooking up soon!

And, yes, on iPadOS, you can customize the tab bar and sidebar!

Super excited to finally show a #preview of #Alidade’s new redesign! Specifically designed with #LiquidGlass in mind (and also unified across all platforms), it will be available in the fall for devices running OS 26.

I wanna lick this so bad lol

Thanks for the Sketch files! Quick question, I detached one of the template windows on macOS and replaced the background, but I noticed the glass seems pretty low in terms of contrast. Is there something else in the kit (or Sketch) I need to bump this up, or is this a "bug"?

I haven’t posted much about #Alidade since the postmortem, but I’m already at work on some new updates! Some of this requires custom UI that #SwiftUI doesn’t have out of the box, so I’ve made a small demo app that lets me prototype these components more easily.

Thanks to the help of a few Playdate friends, I was able to get the core map navigation experience in #Alidade significantly improved! It now uses a #MapKit view with custom tile overlays. Feels wrong, yet so right lol

@birchtree.me Not sure what happened here, but I think somehow I got the Blueprint joker on your RSS feed? Unsure if a NetNewWire bug or a bad RSS update

Well, I think it's time I make this lil' project more public! For the past month, I've been working on a new #Minecraft seed map app, #Alidade (alidade.dev), which lets you navigate and explore your Java worlds across #Mac, #iPhone, and #iPad.

Love this work! Reminds me of some sections in The Talos Principle 2...

First impressions of Swift Testing: a surprisingly decent framework for writing up unit tests. XCTest is still engrained in the back of my head, but having named descriptions, parameterized tests, etc. this way is super nice.

(I promise this particular bit *is* tied to #WhatTheTaiji / Grids)

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes didn't quite make the cut in this year's Game Awards, but it's definitely my Game of the Year! (But hey, good job, Astro Bot and Balatro!)

Throwback to when I made this cute little Witness puzzle...

More work on the #WhatTheTaiji editor! I've implemented more tools, and now you can undo/redo most actions. The ribbon is also now defined with a simple KDL-based file, making it easy for me to add or change the controls.

I've also landed on a name for this app: #Grids!

I also spent quite some time creating mockups of the UI, so I know what I wanted. Eventually, I decided a small ribbon would be appropriate given the complexity of the tool, and that it'd be the easiest to implement in #Love2D.

More work on the #WhatTheTaiji editor! The new ribbon is a work in progress element that contains all the controls for creating and editing puzzles. Currently, you can just flip tiles and erase symbols, but I'll be adding more functionality and controls down the line.

Tiles can also be clicked on, too, to perform actions. For now, it just flips the tile, but later it should support placing symbols or locking tiles in place.

I can load files (even drag + drop) in the #WhatTheTaiji editor (menu option TBA), and they all render as intended.

This week in #WhatTheTaiji shenanigans: working on an editor! Most of the core aspects of the puzzle are in a shiny new library, and I'm working on creating an editor using #Love2D to let you make puzzles more easily.

Tutorials (and puzzle sets) in #WhatTheTaiji now allow you to go back, and you get a nice control cheat sheet when you go to the menu in-puzzle. It's a wee finicky in the Simulator, but it works decently on device.

I forgot just how great the #Playdate dev experience is on a Mac. I'm waiting for my type cover to be repaired by MS, and I set up my Mac for some #WhatTheTaiji dev should I need it when traveling. Part of my wants to move all my dev work to this thing...
